I Believe In Unicorns tells the story of a teenage girl who runs away from home with an older boy, but not even unicorns can save her now. From Student Academy Award nominated director Leah Meyerhoff (Twitch) Oscar nominated producer Heather Rae (Frozen River) and Emmy Award winning executive producer Allison Anders, I Believe In Unicorns stars Natalia Dyer (The Healer), Peter Vack (I Just Want My Pants Back), Julia Garner (Electrick Children) Amy Seimetz (Upstream Color) and the director's mother Toni Meyerhoff. I Believe In Unicorns is supported by an Emerging Narrative Filmmaker Grant from IFP, fiscal sponsorship from San Francisco Film Society, an All Access Grant from the Tribeca Film Institute, and a Director's Award from the Adrienne Shelly Foundation. The project was an official selection of the IFP Narrative Finishing Labs, the Tribeca All Access program, the Film Society of Lincoln Center's Emerging Visions program, and was nominated for a Gotham Independent Film Award. I Believe in Unicorns is one of eight films premiering in the narrative competition at SXSW 2014.
